PORTICO POSSIBILITIES
Evaluating Employee Engagement

A 2007 Gallup Management Journal article entitled, Investors, Take Note: Engagement Boosts Earnings,  revealed a significant relationship between organizational performance and employee engagement.  The results of Gallup’s study demonstrate that “earnings per share for top-Quartile organizations outpaced earnings per share for their competitors by 18% during the study period.”  (Ott, 2007, p. 1)

So much as been written about employee engagement.  Engagement theory suggests that if employees are engaged, they are committed to the organization and therefore they will contribute to its success.  Although good employee engagement means different things to different organizations, within a given organization, it is essential that leadership has a common vision about what good engagement means.  Defining good employee engagement provides the basis for defining HR metrics, prioritizing HR initiatives and describing and measuring progress against HR objectives.

PORTICO can help you:

  • Customize an employee engagement survey that considers your organization’s key issues
  • Strategize supporting communications around the engagement survey and/or focus group implementation, administration and follow-up
  • Analyze and interpret engagement survey results
  • Customize an employee engagement strategy and statement that embraces organizational values and supports your strategic business objectives
  • Translate your employee engagement strategy into key HR metrics that will measure outcomes that support business strategy
  • Design, conduct and analyze focus groups and results on a variety of issues; take the fuzz out of focus group results by providing concise summaries of perception themes
  • Put it all together into a plan of action that supports your organization’s strategic direction.

As the Gallup study demonstrates, employee engagement and organizational performance are related.  PORTICO can help you assess the current state of employee engagement in your organization, provide an accurate diagnosis of employee perception on key topics, and assure that you will work on the right things at the right time to build a high performing organization.
