"Happy in a Hammock"

Gentle breezes sway the palm fronds ever so slightly and the turquoise blue waves lap at the sandy shoreline.  A school of dolphins cavorts in the distance and their somersaults and flips are a spontaneous and un-rehearsed joy to behold.  This is the paradise called Cozumel…and we are here to vacation in the warm Caribbean sunshine that will help us forget the frigid winter weather we left behind in Minneapolis.  We quickly slip into the languid island lifestyle and even on our first day here it seems that we’re comfortably entrenched in the art of relaxation. 

Our stay at the Cozumel Palace Resort is one we’ve anticipated for a while and now that it’s here we know we’ve chosen well…it is a wonderful resort property with amenities to please the most discriminating traveler.  Situated directly on the beach, the Cozumel Palace offers ocean-side rooms that are spacious and have generous sitting areas and in-room Jacuzzi’s.  Each room also has a balcony veranda with hammock included!  We are pampered with 4-star restaurant meals and all beverages (including alcohol) on an all-inclusive plan that makes our days hassle-free.  There are even included excursions to local snorkeling sites.  And golf outings are also available at championship courses.  With the downtown area perhaps a 20-minute walk, shopping is easily accessible also.

And yes, there is still more to do at the Cozumel Palace Resort such as nightly entertainment, daily water aerobics programs, and kids’ club activities for children and an extensive array of spa and salon services for the grown-ups. 

There is much to see, do and enjoy here so you can do as much or as little as you choose.  Sometimes our days are filled with the simple pleasures of just soaking up the sun and dipping our toes in the sand and sea.  Other days are filled with seeing a bit of the local sights and maybe even meeting some local folks or fellow-travelers for sundowners as the afternoon sunlight fades into dusky twilight.  And the options for dinner range from Italian to Oriental to Mexican fare—all prepared from the freshest ingredients and artfully served at the resort’s three on-site restaurants. And if “staying in” for dinner is your preference, then room-service is just the ticket.  The room-service menu is extensive and the food is always equally well-prepared and presented.

And at day’s end, the gentle sea breezes again remind us that our time here is filled with appreciation for the warmth of this place and also the warmth of the people who welcome us into their world if only for a brief time.
